1000 PLACES TO SEE BEFORE YOU DIE: Patricia Schultz

The book is exactly as the title says. It says it is a bestseller in New York. I found this book at a bookstore yesterday, but it was actually released in 2003.

The content is exactly the same. A female travel critic from the U.S. recommends 1,000 places to see in the world, which she selected subjectively. These are the tourist attractions that you should see while you are alive because you are born human.

Counting by country, there are just under 200 places in the United States, about 70 in the United Kingdom, 60 in Italy, 50 in France, 30 in Germany, 17 in China, and eight in Japan.

Looking at Japan, we see Kyoto, Nakasendo, Nara Park, Sapporo Snow Festival, Fuji Climbing and Spiritual Recovery, Park Hyatt Hotel (Shinjuku), Tsukiji Fish Market, and cherry blossom viewing.

This shows a great deal of her also American tastes. For example, there is a lot of places of the the United States and twice as many of the United Kingdom than Germany. As for Tokyo, the fact that there is only one state-of-the-art hotel and the Tsukiji Market is also quite biased. But, well, this is probably a good thing. The publication of several of these will help us see things from multiple perspectives.

As expected, New York, Paris, London, Rome, and Florence are explained in detail. I recommend it to anyone interested in world travel.
