the important thing is to respont to my inner self

A historian named Kinya Abe once writes in his book.

History that does not respond to my inner self is as good as nonexistent to me.

These are heavy words.

The expression “not responding to my inner self” is abstract, but more simply put, I am not excited.

In more recent parlance, it means that it doesn’t sting.

Conversely, it is important to choose things in one’s life that correspond to one’s inner life.

This can be applied to relationships, work, study, and many other situations.

Think about what excites you most about what you do.

We can use that standard to think about our surroundings as well.

-The same is true of Hideko Yamashita’s criteria, who promoted the “decluttering” movement in the example above.
