These are heavy words.
The expression “not responding to my inner self” is abstract, but more simply put, I am not excited.
In more recent parlance, it means that it doesn’t sting.
Conversely, it is important to choose things in one’s life that correspond to one’s inner life.
This can be applied to relationships, work, study, and many other situations.
Think about what excites you most about what you do.
We can use that standard to think about our surroundings as well.
